While I do not have listings of complete TV programming for the grandfather promotion of Japanese Wrestling, I do have listings for footage that is still known to exist in video format. Enjoy listings below of many of the matches that took place in the JWA company from the 1950's - 1973.

(NOTE: Any number followed by a hyphen "-" represents how many minutes of the footage exists. For exampled "10 -" means there is ten minutes of said footage that is still known to exist.)

~ PREVIEW: The early Rikidozan days starting off with clips of some of his sumo wrestling matches. He was a Sekiwake (3rd highest rank) sumo wrestler before quitting and becoming a pro-wrestler. He did sumo for 10 years and was a part of the top division (Makuuchi) in sumo from November 1946 to September 1950. He didn't win any top tournaments (few do), but he was very close in June 1947 when he was in a play-off having the same record as the eventual winner. He founded Japan Pro Wrestling Alliance in Mid-1953. Later that year he went back to Hawaii, where he was originally trained. Only a minute or so of his first NWA Title match with legendary Lou Thesz on December 6, 1953 is available, but the clips show Rikidozan training and showboating on the pacific island. In the clips you can see Thesz do a powerbomb and this is 1953! For the start of '54 Rikidozan had a series of matches with the legendary brother team of Mike & Ben Sharpe. The Sharpe Brothers would end up holding the NWA Tag Title 18 times during their career and here they are defending the titles against Rikidozan and judo star Masahiko Kimura. Kimura's claim to fame is when he beat the original ju-jitzu master, Helio Grasie, father of Royce and so many other fighting legends, in a MMA match. In August Hans Schnabel was his main foe. A lot of Rikidozan's success came against large foreigners, mainly American, as the ultimate Japanese hero beating up the war enemy. At the end of 1954 the infamous match against Kimura took place. It was supposed to be a draw, but something happend and Rikidozan got pissed off and started shooting on Kimura punching and kicking him knocking him legit uncounscious. This is said to be one of the reasons why the Japanese style is more realistic and tougher compared to other wrestling styles. 1955 saw a lot of things happen. The main things was Azumafuji, a former Yokozuna (top rank) in sumo, had started wrestling for Rikidozan and both the All-Asian Singles and Tag Title tournaments happened featuring wrestling stars from all over Asia including India, Pakistan & Hong Kong. In a couple of the matches Rikidozan teams with Harold Sakata (aka Oddjob from the James Bond movie Goldfinger). This DVD finishes off with a Rikidozan singles match against Bobo Brazil from 1957.

Long awaited rematches happened in October '57 first with a 60-min draw and then again 6 days later for a shorter, but probably the best match I've seen from the 50's. Worth getting. Also on this DVD are short clips of the finals of the first 2 annual World League round-robin tournaments. The tournament that would inspire AJPW's Champion Carnival and NJPW's many versions like MSG League, IWGP League and G-1 League. From 1961 is one short clip of a match with Rikidozan going up against freak show act Great Antonio. It includes Antonio dragging a buss with passengers. Finishing off this volume is a the follow-up match from the next DVD against "Vampire" Freddy Blassie.

Also on the tour is the earliest footage I know of a young and athletic Giant Baba. A lot of good old matches to be seen here.
