| Abbreviation/Word |
Definition |
| Puroresu | Purofesshonaru
Resuringu, usually abbreviated to
Puroresu. Puroresu is the shortened name given to Professional Wrestling in the country of Japan. |
| Joshi Puroresu | Joshi Puroresu is Women's Wrestling from Japan,
some of the best matches I have ever seen come from the Joshi Wrestlers.
We hope to have lengthy match listings for these promotions in the
weeks to come. |
| Lucha Libre | Lucha Libre (which translates literally as Free
Wrestling or Free Fighting) is a term used mainly in Mexico as well
as other Spanish-speaking areas such as Puerto Rico in reference to professional wrestling. |
HH (Handheld) |
Handheld Footage is footage shot usually by an
amateur cameraman while using your basic video camera. This footage
is often very raw and at times might have interruptions in the
video. HH footage is known to be stationary on a tri-pod or held in
one place though in some cases handheld cameras may be mobile.
Handhelds are also sometimes known as "Fan Cam's". |
| CHV | Coliseum Home Video (This Abbreviation can be
found in it's own area next to the name of certain WWF PPV's & other WWF Home Video
releases dating from 1985
into 1997. The PPV's are usually edited
versions of the original live broadcasts shown on TV. CHV also made dozens of
their own WWF Compilation Videos.) |
| THE | Turner Home Entertainment (This Abbreviation can
be found next to the name of many NWA & WCW PPV's which contain an edited version of the original live
version shown on PPV. THE also produced a line of Compilation videos.) |
| HV |
Home Video (Examples: WWF HV, ECW HV, It
means that the said version of the event is an edited commercial release and may contain cuts from the event which can only be found from
the Live feed, HV releases may also be compilation or Biography type videos.) |
| Commercial | A Commercial Video Release. Usually a group of
matches and/or segments compiled together from one single show or random events and

were all commercially released videos.) |
| JIP | Joined In Progress: This can be found next to
matches in the Results area that were originally aired on said TV
program or video release "in progress", this term means that the
bout is aired minutes into the match and is not complete, but the
majority of the match was still shown. |
| Highlights |
Basically it's what it says. Highlights simply
means several clips of a match or event pieced together to form
several minutes of footage. Rather than being JIP a highlighted
match would feature several different portions or "highlights" of a bout. |
| Clip | A Clip is a small piece of a match or segment
(usually under a minute in length) that is aired mainly during a
television broadcast. Clips are aired usually in short form to get a
point across in a small amount of time. |
| Comp | Comp is short for Compilation. Basically meaning
a group of matches or segments compiled together for a specific
video theme, or segment of a video. Some Best of Videos are also referred
to as "Comps". |
