WWF Monday Night Raw March 8, 1993. Taped March 1 from the Manhattan Center
in New York City, New York. Shown on USA.
We open things up with the Mega Maniacs and Jimmy Hart. Hogan says they accept
Money Inc’s challenge for Wrestle Mania.
Hart mentions that he knows all of
their weaknesses. Beefcake talks about having the tag titles hanging off of he
and Hulk’s motorcycles
after Wrestle Mania 9.
Raw intro video.
Vince McMahon, Randy Savage and Rob Bartlett welcome us. Tonight, Money Inc vs.
Tito Santana & Virgil. In addition, Rick Martel vs. Mr. Perfect.
Match: Virgil & “El Matador” Tito Santana vs. Money Inc (“Million Dollar Man”
Ted Dibiase & IRS).
Irwin gets on the mic before the match and says that thanks to Bill Clinton, all
the tax cheats will finally have to pay their fare share.
An “Irwin” chant
breaks out. Tito and Ted start things out, pretty back and forth. Virgil and IRS
tag in. Bartlett thinks Virgil and Montel Williams
are the same person. Both
teams now trading tags and arm bars.
Commercial break.
We are back, IRS has control of Virgil. IRS pins Virgil with a back suplex while
Virgil had his attention on Dibiase.
We go to Superstars from 3 weeks ago where Tatanka defeated Shawn Michaels in a
non title match. Then we see a clip from 2 weeks ago
on Raw where Tatanka beat
Michaels in a six man tag. At Wrestle Mania, the Intercontinental Title is
finally on the line.
Rick Martel comes down and convinces the Raw girl to let him model the Raw sign.
Tatanka is next.
Commercial break.
Match: Tatanka vs. Phil Apollo.
Shawn Michaels calls into the show. Michaels says he is going into Wrestle Mania
as champion and out as champion. Savage says
Michaels sounds worried, Michaels
denies it. Tatanka gets the easy victory with the Samoan drop.
Its time for the Wrestle Mania 9 report with Gene Okerlund. It is now official,
Money Inc will defend the WWF Tag Team Titles against
the Mega Maniacs. Also,
Bret Hart defends the WWF Title against Yokozuna. We go to Bret Hart. He says
Yokozuna will walk out of the ring
respecting him and Bret will retain the
title. We then go to Mr. Fuji and Yokozuna. They both say banzai! Blah, blah,
blah. Also on the card,
Giant Gonzalez vs. the Undertaker. We go to Undertaker
and Paul Bearer. Paul says that at Wrestle Mania, Gonzalez will pay the price.
Taker says that Gonzalez tried to make the hunter the hunted. He says only few
have tried this and he has something in store for the giants fate.
Rick Martel convinces another Raw girl to let him model the sign. The camera
zooms way up in between the girls legs as she exit’s the ring.
Nice! Reminds me
of a 1999 Raw!
Papa Shango is next.
Commercial break.
Match: Papa Shango vs. Mike Edwards.
Shango could have won the match several times but wanted to dish out more
punishment. He finishes Edwards off with the shoulder breaker.
Match: Bob Backlund vs. Tony Demoro.
Backlund turns this into a total amateur match. He eventually wins with a double
underhook suplex.
Backstage, Rob Bartlett interviews Rick Martel. Bartlett asks why he took the
Raw girls signs tonight.
Martel says because they have no class, just like his
opponent tonight, Mr. Perfect.
Rick Martel vs. Mr. Perfect is next.
Commercial break.
Match: “The Model” Rick Martel vs. Mr. Perfect.
Pretty mediocre back and forth match before break.
Commercial break.
We are back and Martel hit’s a gut wrench suplex and then applies a chin lock.
Perfect fights out and another commercial.
Commercial break.
We are back and Mr. Perfect’s music is playing. Apparently, he won (come on, the
show is taped). We see a replay from commercial
where he won with the perfectplex. Perfect brings out both of the Raw girls that Martel sent backstage
earlier.
Next week, Kamala and Razor Ramon will be in action, as well as Typhoon vs. Bam
Bam Bigelow.
